The Truth About Trophies

I've attended a ton of award shows, been nominated at some, won at a couple. Most often they're fun. You meet people you haven't seen in a while, hang with friends, support a pal enjoying a win or suffering a loss. But ultimately, the feeling has always been -- meh...

This week I found a clip that finally explained the way I felt. Enjoy.

Love this. Wraps the whole bullshit idea of awards into a neat little package. Might feel more appropriate if I actually had ever won an award. Even "Best Effort" but... no.

Anyway, I was reading your blog about John Candy and it made me smile. Course I never met the man but I was always a fan. "Trains, Planes and Automobiles", it still makes me cry when he stands in that hotel room saying that he likes "me". I think he was a hell of a dramatic and comedic actor.

Anyway, I remember I saw him first on a show called "Coming Up Rosie" playing Wally Wiperzerchuck (sic). The show had Rosemary Radcliffe, Dan Ackroyd and others. I loved this show though it was supposedly a kids show and I was too old for it.

But I have yet to see any history or talk about this show.

Do you have any insight?
